Design Patterns of The Network State
This is how they beat us.
Over the past few years, we have had an opportunity to observe the growth of the Network State. And we see some key patterns start to emerge.
+ The accelerator and fellowship model for Network State sites.
Startup accelerators, where usually young graduates of computer science programs or the self-taught programmers join, get education from industry contacts, are immersed in VC culture and ideology, and put together the earliest stages of a startup, often no more than 1-3 people.
In return for joining the accelerator, the participants get a relatively small amount of money while the venture capitalist harvests a large share in their company. The ones that “make it” go on to receive a larger round of Series A funding, done by larger venture capital firms who have relationships with accelerators.
Thus we see that an accelerator like Y Combinator produces startups which are then passed on to companies they share a close bond with, such as… Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund, #1 enemies of the people. Peter Thiel was on the board of Y Combinator for a long time and it boasts such psychopaths as Sam Altman, Paul Graham and now Garry Tan in its roster.
Now, we see the same model applied across the Network State.
The Network School (Balaji Srinivasan) fellowship program, similar to Peter Thiel’s Fellowship Program, which has put a pipeline of psychos right into the government. The Network School is offering $100,000 grants to “culture fits”. “Fellows are selected by a rigorous examination process and receive $100k in funding for a new or existing venture. They are expected to relocate to Network School for a year to build their startup, meet other fellows, and lock in… If selected, you'll receive $100k in funding and relocate to Network School for one year to build your company.”
VitaDAO, partnered with the floating Network State ecosystem of Zuzalu, offers its own fellowship based on biotech experimentation. They have deployed $4.2 million on 24 research projects to date.
These programs are a major accelerator of growth, monoculture, fusing with the venture capital structure. Key to making this shit bloom across the globe. They are growing, and using all the strategies they’ve picked up over the last 20 years. They are bringing their A-game.
+ Positioning near ports and strategic military locations
For everyone who says that the Network State is a silly bumbling dream, look at the strategy that is apparent in the Network State sites that have been chosen and are building out.
Rightfully, the full-blown Network State colony of Próspera in Honduras gets most of the attention, but Próspera also has a port on the Honduran mainland, advertising:
“Satuye's strategic location makes it a natural fit as a nearshoring hub. It is ideally connected along the main industrial corridor of Honduras by road and presents the possibility to enhance Honduras' maritime connectivity to the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America. The port's geography will contribute to the reduction of logistic costs, creating operational and revenue advantages for companies located in the hub…”
Here, as we see across the venture capital conspiracy, there is war hawking and the elevation of tension with China, combat over key land, ports and manufacturing:
“In recent years China has used the siren song of its Belt & Road Initiative and the promise of major infrastructure financing to lure Latin American nations into agreements that held substantial downside risk for the host nation. These BRI projects tend to under-employ locals and often generate unmanageable levels of debt, which leave the host nation vulnerable to further influence from China… Latin American countries that move toward implementing Chinese BRI projects are not blind to the downsides but often cite the lack of a reasonable counteroffer from the United States as a rationale for a turn toward China. For this reason, private non-partisan SEZs represent a twofold opportunity for Latin American nations. They can participate in the nearshoring movement and utilize an alternative to Chinese BRI without all the burdensome financial risks. ”
Now, calling Próspera non-partisan as it is openly fascist, aligned with the Trump administration, and open repentless colonialist, is a real stretch, but their obsession with China and how it shapes their geopolitical project really should not go without mention.
Metropolis, the Network State project in Palau and the Philippines, involves port and strategic maritime military locations. Itana in Nigeria, is located near a deep sea port. In Solano County, Network State California Forever is located right near Travis Air Force Base, and is planning to build a ship building port. Hadrian, a weapons factory startup funded by none other than Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund, is one of the first startups lined up to operate in California Forever.
Most people aren’t taking it seriously at the same time as the Network State is targeting port and military locations… part of a global takeover effort.
+ Gateways for Foreign Investment, Business Development and Citizenship into Target Countries
A number of the Network State sites offer digital processes based on agreements with host countries, primarily aimed at foreign investment and wealthy people looking for investment by citizenship. Metropolis offers a Residency by Investment program with the Freeport Area of Bataan special economic zone, “a groundbreaking residency-by-investment program that offers long-term stay privileges in the Philippines without real estate commitments, featuring one of the fastest approval timelines in the world.”
Another Network State project is CitizenX, investors include Peter Thiel, Balaji Srinivasan and Tim Draper. It states “expertly selected citizenship programs offer you the fastest, safest, and most straightforward way to diversify your passport portfolio.”
And Itana, in Nigeria, offers a “digital economic zone”, advertising to businesses “Establish a Free Zone Business Entity in Itana: Incorporate your business from anywhere in the world. Gain access to a range of benefits, including immigration, banking, taxation and more, while operating completely online.”
Simultaneously, they are building a physical location, so having both all of the legal and registration and administrative tissue in place for creating their Network State.
+ Conclusion
These and other strategies we will address in further newsletters, suggest a far more sophisticated and long-term approach than what is being portrayed in the glut of new podcasts and short articles about the Network State. It shows a powerful global force that is targeting key areas and weakness in the global economy, that is engaged in great power struggle with China, that looks to secure military, manufacturing and port strongholds around the world.
Now image what this looks like 20 years from now if it is allowed to continue growing.
